In the end, this one cost slightly more than some of the others, but it truly is a quality piece.Assembly was simple and accomplished in less than an hour with basic tools. All of the pieces fit together easily and the directions were about as clear and simple as can be. In its finished form, this is a stout island that should last for many years under normal use. It truly feels like a piece of furniture, compared to some of the others that I looked at that are primarily constructed of pressed wood & look cheap and flimsy. I do have to echo the sentiments of other reviewers that have stated that the finish on the top of this island looks like it could be easily scratched. I didn't want something that looked like a cart, but also didn't have the space for some of the higher priced items. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this piece of furniture. It has great detail and style, along with being a very heavy, sturdy piece. Each of the two boxes it arrived in weighed over 80 lbs.!I was able to put this together by myself in a couple of hours. I was really happy to see that there were extra parts provided for all the screws - you never know what is going to roll under an appliance, never to be seen again. I purchased the black finish, and it coordinates really well with the black accents on my stainless appliances. My intent was to have the top removed and have my granite source create a custom counter.
