Until it arrived. Any gymnastic element my daughters were trying to do on it could not be finished well, they were constantly off the balance. I could not understand why flat piece of wood that is just 3" tall can be unstable - until I looked at the bottom of the "beam". There is a 10 mm (0.4") in diameter equivalent to Sure-Loc Door Hinge - not flat, but round one! - that makes it impossible to put the "beam" on the flat surface. Now guess what happens when you put "beam" on the softer surface to make the Door hinge absorbed by the softness of the mat or carpet??? The whole beam is now unstable from side to side because any soft surface is unstable depending where you apply more pressure - that part will be lower then the other.We will not send the "beam" back. We will remove the Door hinge from the bottom of the "beam". May be we will find flat piece of metal to replace the door hinge (then we will not be able... She absolutely loves it. She currently trains a level 7/8 beam routine, and the length is just perfect for her walk-overs and hand-springs. Unlike other beams I have looked at, the wood core helps so her hands don't sink and extra pressure is not put on her wrists. I would recommend more advanced gymnasts (level 5+) to consider purchasing a mat to go with it ([ ... ]). Awesome product!!! |

Brand new wood core low profile folding balance beam. It is 8 ft long when unfolded with a padded top and is covered with a heavy grade synthetic suede material for the look and feel of a regulation beam. It weighs approximately 15 lbs giving it the weight of foam and the durability of real wood construction. It has attached handles that tuck underneath when in use. The work surface is 4 in. wide and has sloping sides. It is 6 in. wide at the bottom and is 3 in. high. The hinge mechanism is made of steel. The beam can be folded and stored flat underneath a bed, in a closet or easily folded and taken in a car. This will make a great practice beam.
